Become an authorised hot water retailer

If you are new to Solar Victoria rebates and would like to become an authorised hot water retailer, you must register through this link:

Register as an authorised hot water retailer

After you have completed the form, we will check the information you provided and set up an account for you within five business days if you pass all eligibility checks.

You will then receive an email with an invitation to sign the terms and conditions by logging into your account via the Solar Victoria portal (‘the portal’).

The portal is essential to become an authorised retailer in the Solar Homes Program. It enables retailers to upload customer quotes and be paid for the rebate/loan amounts that must be passed through to eligible customers. Retailers must ensure the licensed and registered plumbers they engage also sign-up with us in order to install solar hot water or heat pump systems under our program. Please ensure this happens to avoid any delay in the payment of rebate claims.

All retailers must agree to meet all requirements in the Solar Victoria Notice to Market by signing the terms and conditions in our onboarding process. Our terms and conditions strengthen consumer protections and support the high standards of the Solar Homes Program.

Hot water retailers wishing to join our programs are not required to become a New Energy Tech (NET) Approved Seller. Hot water retailers may be considered for inclusion in the New Energy Tech Consumer Code at a later stage.

Existing authorised solar retailers

Authorised solar retailers for our solar panel (PV) and battery rebates who wish to participate in the hot water rebate need to:

  1. Log into the portal and navigate to “My account” on the top right corner, then
  2. Select “Hot Water (Owner occupier)” under the “Eligible Rebate Types” icon.

We will then add you to the authorised hot water retailer list.

Become an authorised hot water installer

Hot water installers must first register at the link below before installing any systems in the hot water rebate stream.

Register as an authorised hot water installer

All installers must agree to meet all requirements in the Solar Victoria Notice to Market by signing the terms and conditions in our onboarding process.

This includes all installers holding the appropriate accreditation issued by the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) to complete installs under the hot water rebate. Licensed and registered plumbers can complete hot water installations by signing-up with us and scanning customer QR codes. Licensed plumbers are still required to issue a Victorian Building Authority Certificate of Compliance and must be signed-up with us to participate.

After you have registered you will receive an email to confirm your details and set up a Service Victoria account. If you have an existing Service Victoria account under the same email, you will need to log in to your original account and change the linked email.

Once your Service Victoria account is set up, you can log into the portal and accept the terms and conditions. After that, you will receive a confirmation email from Solar Victoria and can download the Service Victoria App.

About the Service Victoria app for installers

The Service Victoria app contains your digital installer licence that we require you to show your customer when onsite.

It also has an inbuilt QR code scanner that you are required to use to scan the customer’s QR code to associate yourself to the installation as the accredited installer. The QR code step helps to:

  • provide an extra level of safety for everyone
  • link the installation to an authorised installer
  • signal to regulators that you are about to start and can be inspected to ensure the highest safety standards are met.
