Solar support to continue through the Victorian Energy Upgrades program

The decision will ensure support for rooftop solar continues beyond June 2027, helping Victorian households access renewable energy and lower their energy costs into the future.

Eligible households can continue to apply for solar PV rebates with the option of an interest-free loan, with current program arrangements remaining in place until 30 June 2027.

Building on the success of Solar Homes

Over the past 9 years, Solar Victoria has helped more than half a million Victorian households reduce their energy bills and emissions through the Solar Homes Program.

The program has been one of Victoria's most successful household energy initiatives, accounting for more than 25% of all renewable energy capacity installed across the state since 2018. It has helped deliver millions of dollars in bill savings for Victorian households while supporting strong industry quality and safety standards.

The Solar Homes Program has also played an important role in developing the skilled renewable energy workforce needed to support Victoria's energy transition and growing demand for clean energy technologies.

Most importantly, the program has been delivered safely with safety controls and improved standards and quality implemented across the program since 2018 to protect workers and customers.

Working closely with industry

Solar Victoria recognises the importance of providing certainty to both consumers and industry as these changes are implemented.

We are committed to working closely with industry throughout this period to support an orderly transition into the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program and provide clarity on implementation arrangements as they are developed.

We will continue to work closely with participating Solar Homes retailers and provide updates as further information becomes available.

Looking ahead

The Victorian Government remains committed to helping Victorians reduce energy costs and access clean energy technologies. It will continue to support Victorians with discounts for energy saving products available through the VEU program.

The transition period provides certainty for households and industry while work progresses on the design of the new VEU residential solar PV activity.

Solar Victoria will continue to administer existing solar PV interest-free loans and hot water rebates.
