Income eligibility is changing. From 1 July 2026, your or your renters’ combined household income must be $150,000 or less per year to be eligible for a rebate. To avoid disappointment, submit your application in full by 5pm on 30 June 2026.

Getting ready for solar

To get ready for solar, speak with an authorised retailer. They will look at your available roof space, shading, and orientation. They’ll also check your switchboard wiring.

But what else should you think about?

Prepare to discuss how and when you use energy. If you work away from home, you will use more energy before and after work – so east and west-facing panels may suit better.

Get more than one quote. Understand the efficiency, suitability, and warranty coverage of the products you’re quoted. And think carefully about cost versus quality. Remember, if the price sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Your roof needs to be in good condition to support your panels.

And if your home is older than 30 years, your switchboard may need an upgrade to meet current safety standards.

Then, put the sun to work and save with solar!
