Neighbours join to bring solar to community

The reason why I like this place so much is because it has character. It's an older building.

Over the time that people have lived in this block, they've put a lot of work into making it a pleasant place to live.

The journey to solar here started with just an indicative request which we sent out to people saying, Are you interested in solar or not?

You know, like we've got a roof, we've got plenty of space, less wax and panels up there.

I was really excited and I put my hand up because I've always wanted to have solar panels for the environment and also for the long term savings.

Murray is the kind of guy you can depend on to get things done.

Murray coordinated all the things that were needed for the installation of the solar panels.

He he kept us in the loop.

Obviously, the the owner occupiers.

And he also got in touch with them.

But the installers got the clothes together.

We did it with independent advice, in our case with advice from the Yarra Energy Foundation.

We're going to make sure that we get good technology, we're going to keep costs as low as possible.

My main concern when it comes to installing solar panels, it was mainly cost, but with the Solar Victoria rebate, I think it made the decision to install solar panels really easy.

Obviously I'm here for the environmental reasons, but of course then there were also be long-term savings along the way. Yeah.

You know, it helps give people a sense of pride in their apartment block and it's as a sense of having achieved something special.
